CLARK — The Clark Board of Education honored the Arthur L. Johnson Field Hockey Team, North II Group 2 Sectional State Champions, for their fourth championship over the last four years at the school board’s December Showcase of Success. The team finished the season with a final record of 19-6, and a second consecutive North II Group 2 Sectional State championship.
The team was introduced at the showcase by Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Knops, who turned the microphone over to Athletic Director Gus Kalikas. Kalikas commented, “I don’t know all the rules for the game, but I do know that at the end of the contest, it’s our girls on top. They dominate and have the best run of any athletic program.”
At the conclusion of Kalikas’ remarks, each member of the Johnson Field Hockey Team was called up to the podium and presented a certificate of commendation by Board of Education President Laura Caliguire.
Knops remarked, “I had the pleasure of watching a number of field hockey games and attending the last two field hockey end of the season dinners. These young ladies personify the concepts of team, dedication, and commitment. We are extremely proud of each member of the Johnson Field Hockey team as a student, athlete, and representative of our school district.”
