PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested two men on Saturday afternoon after responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Smith and McClellan streets.

Victor Jimenez, 28, of Perth Amboy, was charged with possession of a handgun and marijuana. Hector Colon-Burgos, 20, of Carteret was charged with weapons offenses and aggravated assault.

Police were called to the area on Dec. 17 at around 2:45 p.m., where they found a fight between several individuals, primarily from Plainfield and Carteret, according to Deputy Chief Benjamin Ruiz. Several shots had been fired, but no one was injured, according to police.

Judge George Boyd set bail at $200,000 for each defendant, with no 10 percent option. The suspects were taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.

As is in all criminal cases, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
