Former Rahway Councilman & Mayoral Candidate Passes Away

RAHWAY — Rev. William Paul Wnuck, Ph.D., 84, of Edison, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Genesis Healthcare in Westfield.  He served as Rahway’s Third Ward Councilman for many years and was the 1994 Republican nominee for mayor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the O’Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad Street, Bloomfield, on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment is private. Visitation is on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Born in Midland Park, Rev. Wnuck was the son of the late Frank and Mathilda Wnuck. He spent the first half of his career in engineering as an employee of Boeing Airplane Company, Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Rev. Wnuck was later employed for 20 years and retired as a social worker for the County of Essex, while serving for 25 years as a staff minister at the Christian Faith Center in Bloomfield.

He is survived by his four sons, Greg, William, Stanley and Erik; three grandchildren, Warren, Emily and Alexander; two brothers, Frank Wnuck and Ken Wnuck; and one sister, Evelyn Avery, and many nieces and nephews.
