LAKEWOOD — Donald Johansen, a Toms River resident and executive director of Harrogate, a life care continuing care retirement community, was recently appointed to the secretary position for the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce. Johansen, who has been involved with the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce since 2008, previously served on the Board of Directors in 2010 and part of 2011. Harrogate, though, has been an active member of the Chamber since it opened its doors in 1988.
“At Harrogate, we believe in the importance of community,” says Johansen. “It is such an honor to be chosen to serve the Lakewood community in this capacity, and help the Chamber with its initiatives for 2012.”
In his new role, Johansen will be responsible for attending and notifying members and Board of Directors of all meetings, record the events of each meeting, and provide reports and correspondence on behalf of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors. Also as Secretary, he is considered an Officer of the Chamber, and will be required to attend Executive Committee meetings, assist the Chamber in its mission of promoting a healthy business environment and act as a steward for the Lakewood business community.
“For 2012, the Chamber is focused on continuing to meet the needs of the business community and participate in initiatives that improve the quality of life for Lakewood,” states Lawrence Krompier, Executive Director of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce. “And we are very fortunate to have members like Don Johansen, who are dedicated to betterment of this community and assist the Chamber in meeting its goals.”
