PERTH AMBOY — Tomasz Kasztelan, a seventh grade student at Perth Amboy Catholic School, won third place in the 7th-9th Grade division of the 2011 Freehold Soil Conservation Poster Contest.

Kasztelan won a certificate and a prize-winning check for his depiction of the Boy Scouts camping in a forest. The contest theme was “Forests for People-More Than You Can Imagine.”

The students were invited to participate in the contest by their art teacher, Rose Lavin Pennyfeather, so they could learn more about the important role forests play in their everyday lives and how they can help conserve New Jersey’s natural resources.
