RAHWAY – New Jersey artist Lloyd Garrison has great memories of Christmas in Rahway when he was growing up in the 50s and 60s, and he enjoys sharing them through his annual Christmas cards. His new 2011 card features an image of Cherry Street in downtown Rahway, with shoppers walking under lighted garlands that have been hung to decorate.

“It’s amazing how happy people are to purchase a box of cards,” Garrison says. “The people that receive them are cheered up and often call the person that sent it to thank them; this is what makes it all worthwhile.”

Garrison will be at the Union County Performing Arts Center on Irving Street on Dec. 1 as part of the city Arts District’s First Thursday evening celebration. He will be selling boxes of this year’s cards, along with older ones featuring Walt’s Bar & Grill in Linden and the Rahway Hobby Shop.
