NEWARK – Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) helps nearly 50,000 children – from birth through age 19 – every year, and now you can help them too. This holiday season, the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey Foundation is sponsoring the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey Holiday Wish List.
“The wish list is a list of toys, supplies, and other developmental items needed by children at the hospital, which caregivers have told us they are in short supply”, said Jean Folsom, the associate director of development at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation. “Some items added to the list include special supplies that help premature babies feel like they are still in their mothers’ womb; sensory equipment to treat children with learning and behavioral challenges; and playthings to distract a hospitalized child from the tedium and fear that can accompany a trip to the hospital”.
“Normally during the holiday season, people have a natural tendency to want to help, but have no idea what the best way is, should they give money or time,” said Holly Gauthier, the vice president of the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation. “Our hope is that the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey Wish List will help prioritize our greatest need, so that New Jersey residents can be rest assured that their generous donations are going to the area with the greatest need and most importantly bringing light into the lives of children suffering from various conditions.”
