PERTH AMBOY – A 26-year-old city man faces six felony charges after allegedly stealing a patrol car and leading Clinton Township police on a high-speed chase in June, according to a report by the Hunterdon County Democrat.
David Rosa was stopped for speeding on eastbound I-78 on June 8 and allegedly gave police a false name. While the officers were checking police records, Rosa, who was handcuffed, allegedly got into the driver’s seat of one of two patrol cars on the scene and drove off.
A Hunterdon County grand jury indicted Rosa on charges of second degree aggravated assault, third degree theft by unlawful taking, second degree eluding, third degree hindering apprehension, third degree escape, and third degree resisting arrest.
The charges are merely accusations and Rosa is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
