Elizabeth Public Schools Celebrates Student Perfection

ELIZABETH – Tonight, approximately 2,000 people are expected to gather for a celebration of student achievement. The Perfect Scores Award Ceremony at the Dunn Sports Center will honor students who earned a perfect score on the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) and their subject area teachers who were instrumental in helping these students achieve academic excellence.

The NJ ASK is a state mandated test which is administered annually to third through eighth graders in order to assess their proficiency levels in mathematics, language arts and science. The district has seen top student achievement increase, going from 23 perfect scores in 2007 to a record 330 perfect scores in 2011.

At the ceremony, perfect score students and their subject area teachers will be recognized by Superintendent of Schools Pablo Muñoz and the Elizabeth Board of Education members, who will present every student and teacher with an award and commemorative poster memorializing their hard work and commitment to achieving excellence.
