International Film Series Comes To Cranford Community Center

CRANFORD—The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite you to tour the world via their ongoing International Film Series. Shows are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Upcoming features include: Tuya’s Marriage (China, 2006, 96 minutes) on Nov. 21; The Secret in Their Eyes (Argentina, 2009, 127 minutes) on Dec. 12, and La Vie en Rose (France, 2007, 140 minutes) on Jan. 9.

Tuya’s Marriage, a comedy/drama set in Mongolia, tells the story of Tuya, whose struggle to support her two children and disabled husband leads to an unusual solution. The Secret in Their Eyes, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film in 2009, follows a murder investigation hampered by judicial cover-ups and corruption. La Vie en Rose depicts the life of the famous French singer, Edith Piaf. Marion Cotillard won the 2007 Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Piaf in the film.
