LINDEN — The Linden Public Library is sponsoring a free concert for middle school, and high school students who live in Linden.

The concert is called “Rhythms and Rhymes,” and features performers Josh Robinson and Lamont Dixon. Robinson plays percussion, and has studied rhythms from Africa, Cuba, and Brazil. He performs regularly in nightclubs with “Soul Samba.” Dixon is a regular on the jazz-poetry scene. He infuses jazz, hip-hop, blues, and drama into his performances. He served as co-executive producer for Russell Simmon’s 2001 Def Poetry Jam Tour in Philadelphia. Lamont’s poetry has been published in African Voices and Essence magazine among others.

The concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 4 to 5 p.m. Free refreshments will be served. Register at the sign-up sheet in the Linden Public Library so that the library staff may prepare for the refreshments. The library is located at 31 East Henry Street, just down the street from the 7-11 Store on Wood Avenue.
