CLARK – U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance recently presented St. John the Apostle School with an American flag as a symbol of our country’s pride in recognition of the school receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award of Academic Excellence.

This presentation was held during a celebration bedecked with crowning blue ribbons as the students and faculty joined the Congressman and other dignitaries of the Archdiocese of Newark with a program filled with student achievements and accolades.

In the Congressional Record, Lance stated “I commend Sister Donna Marie O’Brien, the faculty, the students, the parents, and the entire community on receiving this prestigious award.”

Sister Donna Marie O’Brien, Father Robert McBride and faculty members June Butchko and Sharon Osnato will be attending the national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 14 and 15, where they will be presented with a plaque and the National Blue Ribbon flag by Secretary of State Arnie Duncan as symbols of this outstanding academic success.
