Authorities Investigating Fatal Roselle Shooting

ROSELLE — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old man that occurred earlier this morning in Roselle, Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced.

Montau Mc Cloud was shot several times in front of 1134 Warren Street Roselle around midnight and was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:24 a.m.

At this time, the Task Force and the Roselle Police Department are taking statements and examining evidence. No arrests have been made at this point and a motive has not been established, officials said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Union County Crime Stoppers at 1-908-654-TIPS. Anonymous tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of a suspect are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

According to New Jersey Department of Corrections data, McCloud had a record of serious crimes including several convictions for handguns and weapons possession, dealing drugs and theft. He was most recently released from prison on April 29, 2011.

    I went thru school in linden with his father and mother..very good people.a lot of young people come from very good homes..but when your a follower instead of being a leader ,,outside the home ..there is a very different element that the youth follow..he did need to get shot and killed,,,nobody does,…when when out youth start being followers and being in the wrong place at the wrong never know what might happen… R.I.P. young man… TERRY ROPER SR..
