RAHWAY — To kick off Red Ribbon Week at Franklin Elementary School, the school nurse, Barbara Maher, read the story “The Red Ribbon,” created by John Lasne, to Susan Farrar’s fourth grade students. The story talks about how a community worked together to overcome its challenges. The book was written to pay tribute to federal Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent Enriqué “Kiki” Camarena, who was abducted, tortured and killed while on assignment in Mexico in 1985.
