EDISON — Doug Cerminaro of Scotch Plains, a sophomore at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School, re-created a seventh century mead-hall for a sophomore English project. Cerminaro’s project was particularly well done in both its expansive scale and attention to detail. As part of their study of the Viking epic (c. 725 C.E.) Beowulf, members of the sophomore class stretched their creative wings and pulled several artistic and technological media into the English classroom. For this project students were asked to visually re-create a scene for the epic poem and clarify the scene with an accompanying descriptive quotation from the translated text.
