Trudi’s Corner: Mailbox Annoyances

By Trudi Cunningham

I really thought that I had finally gotten through to some organizations in regards to name labels. Well, it just doesn’t seem to be the case, because I’ve gotten any number addressed to my husband who’s been gone over 20 years. I do know for a fact that I’m not alone in that direction. If there’s a pre-stamped envelope enclosed, I return it with the notation that he’s deceased over that many years.

Now I get those cards and letters address to “Our Neighbor” when I can also say I’m nowhere near to that dentist or doctor and definitely would not go to them. I have called personally to have my name removed if nothing else. I know times are “tough” but I do have those I might need for anything, and close enough for my benefit.

There are times when I would send a contribution in remembrance of someone who had passed away. There again, I would receive a “thank you” from the family in acknowledgement, but somewhat later I would receive a request for a further donation.

My next remark is in regards to the Christmas Seals package I received in early October. Let me tell you, I do think they’re great, but there again – why in heaven’s name are they out this early? By the time it comes around to make use of them, I’ve misplaced the envelope with all the “goodies.” I have never ignored their request for funds in more than 60 years, because it’s a worthwhile contribution. But please, give me a break from some of the many others I have never contributed to. I refuse to start now.
