RAHWAY — The Parish Community of Divine Mercy Church in Rahway held a Rosary Rally on Saturday, Oct. 15 in front of St. Mary’s RC Church on Central Avenue.

A gathering of parish members and guests were in attendance for the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This respect and love of Mary is based on Holy Scripture. Mary signifies her honor as Mother of God. The Virgin Mary has come to be seen, not only as the Mother of God, but also as the Mother of the Church. As the Mother of Jesus Christ, Mary has a central role in the life of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic veneration of her as Blessed Virgin Mary has grown over the years.

The gathering of love and honor to Mary and the praying of the Holy Rosary is an annual event at the parish. Many devoted members recited the Rosary and raised their voices in the three languages that make up the parish. Both prayers and songs were recited in English, Spanish and Tagalog, a Filipino dialect.

This is one of the many celebrations of Divine Mercy Parish which are held at the Church of St. Mary on Central Avenue, and the Church of St. Mark on Hamilton Street.
