LINDEN – Longtime resident Patricia Backes recently approached Mayor Richard Gerbounka for help collecting slightly-used stuffed animals to send to the Marines at Camp Leatherneck where her grandson-in-law is stationed could distribute them to children in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Hundreds of toys were boxed and shipped overseas with the assistance of Marine Reserve 1st Sgt. Bobby Clark.

“I’m proud to be mayor of Linden,” Gerbounka said. “Our residents always rise to the occasion, whether it’s helping our citizens or kids halfway around the world.” (Photo courtesy of the City of Linden)
