HIGHLAND PARK — A Highland Park man is in critical condition after being struck by two vehicles on Raritan Avenue, authorities said today. The accident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, when the victim was attempting to cross Raritan Avenue between Second and Third avenues.
According to witnesses, the first vehicle to strike the victim was traveling northbound on Raritan Avenue and left the scene of the accident, police said. The victim was then thrown into the southbound lane of travel where he struck a second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and rendered assistance until emergency workers arrived.
The man was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he is listed in critical condition, authorities said.
