Plainfield Gang Member Charged In 2010 Homicide

ELIZABETH — The Union County Homicide Task Force has arrested and charged a member of the Bloods sex-money-murder sect in the June 16, 2010 homicide of a Plainfield teenager, Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced today.

Jaalil Spruiel, 25, aka “bow wow”, of Plainfield was transported from a state prison yesterday to Elizabeth where he was charged with the murder of Tyrell Brighton, 18, said Romankow. The incident occurred near the 400 block of Plainfield Avenue. The victim was shot numerous times while standing in the area of Plainfield Avenue and West 4th Street.

Spruiel’s bail was set at $1 million and he was returned to State Prison awaiting trial.

According to New Jersey Department of Corrections records, Spruiel is serving a six-year sentence on a weapons charge and is eligible for parole in 2014.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
