EDISON — The Edison Chamber of Commerce has added a new calendar page to highlight career fairs to www.EdisonChamber.com There are now three calendar pages: Community, Chamber and Career Fairs events. Along with the listing of career/job fairs in Central New Jersey, there is a list of websites that employers can list their job openings.
Historically, October is Small Business Month in Edison. The Edison Chamber starts its annual fall membership campaign. New members pay for 12 months and the membership is valid through December 2012. They receive the Passport To Success card, which entitles each new member to six free admissions to networking and mini seminars.
New members joining prior to Nov. 1 receive a free pass to the speed networking business mixer from 5-7:30 p.m on Nov. 1 at The Rosewood Caterers, 2863 Woodbridge Avenue, Edison. All other business people are welcome: member $20; non-members $40. The event is co-sponsored by The Rosewood Caterers and AXA Advisors, Edison. Starting at 5 p.m. Kevin Shulman of Shuman and Associates will present ”How to Effectively Network. The one-hour speed networking segment starts at 5:30 p.m. sharp. Newly inducted members were guests at the Sept. 28 Let’s Get Acquainted, hosted by Certified Kitchens, Inc., Edison. These companies voluntarily pledged their confidence in the Edison Chamber’s program of work and commitment to serve the business community.
The fall membership campaign included a Walk Around Edison event on Oct. 18. Sixteen volunteers from various member firms hit the sidewalks to say “Thank you for being an Edison business and for contributing to Edison’s economy.” They distributed chamber literature and cookies donated by Pines Manor, home of the Edison Chamber Chairwoman Janet Baio. The walk was concluded at the 50-person evening business mixer at Main St. Trattoria in Metuchen.
