Soccer Legend To Come To NJ & Meet Young Players

MONROE – Soccer legend Mia Hamm, the only five-time recipient of the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year award, is leading a fundraiser to benefit her foundation.

The Mia Hamm Foundation is a non-profit, national organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for families in need of a marrow or cord blood transplant and the development of more opportunities for young women to participate in sport.

Anyone who raises $250 will meet and have lunch, with a guest, with Mia Hamm on Saturday, Nov. 12 at SportsZone in Monroe.

Mia Hamm, said, “I’m thrilled to team up with New Jersey Youth Soccer Association to raise both money and awareness for my foundation. I can’t wait to meet the young soccer players of New Jersey on Nov. 12!”

You must register and create a fundraising page to have lunch with Hamm. You may register at You do not need to be a member of New Jersey Youth Soccer to have lunch with Hamm. For members of NJYS, the top 15 overall fundraisers per area will participate in a soccer game with Hamm after lunch.

Roy Squillario, President of New Jersey Youth Soccer Association, says, “We are happy to be able to both support a good cause while giving our players an opportunity to meet Mia Hamm.”
