CLARK — The Clark chapter of UNICO held the fifth annual Italian American Feast on Columbus Day weekend. Owner 12,000 people were in attendance.

There was an abundance of food including sausage, pizza, zeppole, eggplant, calzone, pastas, seafood, crepes, Ribs, Gyros, Fried Oreo, Potato on a stick, ice cream, jelly apples and much, much more. Beer and wine were also available. There were game trailers for everyone to take a chance to win prizes, plus a money wheel, 50/50, and an LCD flat screen TV was raffled off.

Children enjoyed rides, eating cotton candy, popcorn, and ice cream. Brother John Brown, a live band, performed on Friday night and the Sounds of the Street doo-wop band on Saturday night. Angelo Gentile swooned the crowd on Sunday afternoon. Various crafters and retailers were hand for people to stroll along and shop.

“The feast far exceeded our expectations this year,” said Ralph Bernardo, Clark Chapter President. “The weather was summer like and people came out in droves. This was the most profitable year so far,” said Bernardo.

UNICO is the largest Italian American Service Club in the United States, nonprofit and nonsectarian. The UNICO Clark chapter ran the feast. The proceeds raised from the event will enable the chapter to donate to academic and sport scholarship awards to high school students, underprivileged and handicap children, charities, community and civic activities just to name a few.

“UNICO was excited and proud to bring this event to the township of Clark again this year,” Bernardo said.
