PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a senior state corrections officer for allegedly buying cocaine moments before they planned to execute a search warrant at a suspected drug dealer’s home on Friday, authorities said.
While performing surveillance prior to conducting the search at a first floor apartment on the 300 block of Hall Street, members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigation Bureau saw Miguel Angel Rosario, 44, allegedly purchase drugs from Cesar Valentine Sosa-Abreu, 37.
Police arrested both men and took Sosa-Abreu to his apartment, where they executed the warrant.
According to police, they recovered cocaine with a street value of $8,500, a digital scale and packing material.
Police also arrested Sosa-Abreu’s girlfriend, Deini Reyes-Solano, 34, who lives with him at the apartment.
Sosa-Abreu and Reyes-Solano were both charged with possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute over ½ ounce of cocaine (second degree), and possession with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school zone (Samuel E. Shull Elementary School). Sosa-Abreu was also charged with distribution of cocaine and conspiracy.
Rosario, who is assigned to the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton, was charged with possession of cocaine and conspiracy, according to officials.
The defendants are considered innocent unless they are proven guilty in a court of law.
