ELIZABETH — The Rotary Club of Elizabeth, celebrating its 94th year of service to the Greater Elizabeth Community, will hold the food-tasting event “The Taste of Elizabeth V” on Monday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, 1000 Spring Street, Elizabeth.
“The fact that this will be our fifth annual Taste of Elizabeth is evidence of its success and strong following,” explained Chairman Kenneth Richuso. “This year’s event will feature 36 of the area’s finest restaurants and beverage vendors, plus some exciting new participants. Our event is a unique dining experience featuring an ethnically diverse display of sumptuous gourmet dishes from Elizabeth and the surrounding area’s most exciting restaurants,” he added.
The Rotary event will kick-off a larger, week-long food-tasting experience, Go Elizabeth NJ Restaurant Week, that will run from Monday, Oct. 24 to Sunday, Oct. 30. Participants in Go Elizabeth NJ Restaurant Week may choose from over 30 of the city’s best restaurants and enjoy a three-course dinner for $20 or $30 per person, depending on the restaurant.
“Now is your chance to discover new restaurants and enjoy all your favorites at a discounted price!” Richuso exclaimed. The Restaurant Week event is sponsored by TD Bank, and media sponsorship is provided by Go Elizabeth NJ and Comcast Spotlight.
During Taste of Elizabeth V, guests will enjoy selections from 25 restaurants, and more than a dozen wineries, bakeries and coffee houses. The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a Tricky Tray silent auction. Funds raised from the Taste of Elizabeth V will enable the Rotary Club to continue to provide financial grants to local non-profit agencies and to provide college scholarships through the Club’s Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund.
Tickets for Taste of Elizabeth V can be ordered online through the Rotary Club’s website: www.ElizabethRotary.org. Tickets are priced at $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Those individuals wishing to participate in Go Elizabeth NJ Restaurant Week may do so free of charge. Patrons simply contact the participating restaurants directly and indicate that they are taking part in the event. The list of restaurants can be found on http://www.goelizabethnj.com/restaurantweek
