Inaugural New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Ride Planned

HOLMDEL— The American Legion Riders have announced the First Annual New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Ride to benefit the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation and the Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center.

The ride will take place Sunday, Oct. 16, beginning at the National Guard Headquarters (101 Eggerts Crossing Road, Lawrenceville) and ending at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Holmdel (Exit 116 off the Garden State Parkway, on the grounds of the PNC Bank Arts Center). Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cavalcade will depart at 11:30 a.m. from the National Guard Headquarters with a police escort.

The ride, which is co-sponsored by The American Legion Riders and the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, is a rain or shine event and is open to the public. New Jersey 101.5 FM’s Big Yellow Van will broadcast Big Joe Henry’s program from the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial that day. Additionally, the Vietnam Veterans of America will host an Antique Car Show.

Registration costs $25 to cover expenses, including a barbecue lunch and donation for all participants and attendees. Children 12 and under will be admitted for $10. The general public is encouraged to attend.
