High School To Dedicate Gym In Honor Of Athletic Director

ELIZABETH — On Friday, Oct. 28, St. Mary of the Assumption High School will hold a ceremony to dedicate the school gymnasium as the “Robert Halleck Gymnasium.” The ceremony will be held at St. Mary’s at 7 p.m.

Robert Halleck, a member of St. Mary’s Class of 1960, returned to his alma mater in 1983 to serve as JV basketball coach, assistant varsity basketball coach and interim athletic director. He also served as head varsity basketball coach from 1989 to 1998. In 1984, he was named athletic director, a position he continues to hold.

There will be light fare, as well as beer, wine and soda. Tickets are available at St. Mary of the Assumption High School, 237 South Broad Street, Elizabeth, 1-908-352-4350. The cost of a ticket is $30.
