Cranford Bistro To Host Inaugural Urban Farm Dinner

CRANFORD – Cranford bistro, A Toute Heure (ATH), will serve as the featured host of an “Urban Farm Pig Roast,” the inaugural Urban Farm Dinner event (a project of Groundwork Elizabeth) to be held Sunday, Oct. 16 from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Portuguese Instructive Social Club in Elizabeth.

In addition to the “pig roast,” ATH chefs will feature the best of the fall harvest from local community gardens, in dynamic Spanish and Portuguese inspired dishes. The 5-course tasting menu includes: Portuguese heirloom tomato jam on cheddar biscuits, pulled pork and winter squash empanadas, Manchego potato cakes, cured Portuguese chorizo sausage in a white-wine and much more. Guests will indulge in specialty cocktails from expert mixologists. Featured for the launching of the series will be local agricultural heroes discussing the history of agriculture and their experiences as life-long agriculturist.

The Urban Farm Dinners are a benefit dinner series that celebrates local gardens and farms, raises awareness of urban agriculture and supplies critical resources to support a sustainable urban food supply. Local food products, created by the community gardens of Come Grow With Us! Union County’s Community Garden Project will be available for sale.

Proceeds from this event benefit and the building of a hydroponic greenhouse in Elizabeth with Nova Mocidade of the Portuguese Instructive Social Club.
