Trudi’s Corner: Fashion Focus

By Trudi Cunningham

How do I get started, when I see something that makes me so glad I’m not going in that direction? At this particular time, it’s in reference to an article in the paper about children’s fashions and parents falling in line with what’s being offered. It relates how parents, regardless of the financial situation, are going for high-priced designer clothes that I wouldn’t give house room to.

When I read some of the prices listed and the reasons why parents go that way, don’t you just wonder why the younger generations need to focus on something more worthwhile? I also wonder where their taste for proper attire has gone. Think about it.

On to my next thought. There is nothing that amazes me more at this point than the lack of proper attire for grownups, men and women, when attending church. In some instances, you would think they’re going to a picnic instead of a house of worship. When I see a woman dressed in slacks and covered up properly, and the husband dressed in shorts, no socks, and sandals, and someone in cut-off jeans with strings hanging…

There are certain groups I had noticed recently, when I was at dinner on a Sunday. The ladies were dressed in the height of fashion that included a lovely hat, and the men were dressed in suits and ties. This is what it was all about, if some of you can possibly remember. Whatever has happened to proper decorum, as it is totally down the drain and no one has any pride in themselves? At this point, I probably vented in the wrong direction, as far as some are concerned, but that’s my opinion. I just couldn’t resist.
