Remembering The Past: Around Middlesex County

by Diane Norek Harrison

Here are some of the sections of different towns around Middlesex County:

PERTH AMBOY-Rose Tarloski Celecki provided the following sections that were around Perth Amboy: Back in the day, there was the Budapest section; was where the Hungarian people lived, Chickentown, was where people raised their own chickens and the Dublin section was where the Irish people resided.

In 1957 material I found the following sections of towns:

EAST BRUNSWICK-Patricks Corner and Tanners Corner

EDISON-Lindeneau, Nixon, Oaktree, and Outcalt

MONROE-Rhode Hall

If anyone has memories from any of the above mentioned areas in Middlesex County or can provide other sections of towns not mentioned, in Middlesex or Union counties, please send them with your own memories or past material for upcoming columns.

If you have your own memories of the past in Middlesex or Union counties, email me at or send copies of your past material to me c/o CMD Media, 1139 East Jersey St., Suite 503, Elizabeth NJ, 07201
