Authorities Arrest Suspects In March Killing

PLAINFIELD — The Union County Homicide Task Force arrested a Plainfield man earlier today after he was charged in connection with a March homicide, Union County First Assistant Albert Cernadas, Jr. announced.

Homicide complaints were issued yesterday for Plainfield resident Jordan Camacho, a known gang member of the G-Shine set of the Bloods, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was arrested at his home this morning, Cernadas said.

A second suspect, a juvenile, also a Plainfield resident was also charged.

Both are accused in the murder of Nelson Santos-Betances. The homicide occurred at the intersection of 3rd and Monroe Street in Plainfield on March 21. Bail was set at $1 million for Jordan Camacho. He will be held at the Union County Jail. The juvenile is presently housed at Jamesburg Youth Correctional Facility.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
