25th Annual PRAHD Roberto Clemente Gala Planned

PERTH AMBOY–For the 25th year, the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD) will host the Annual Roberto Clemente Gala on Saturday, Oct. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel, 515 Route One South, Iselin.

The gala will celebrate PRAHD’s achievements, acknowledge community leaders and partner with PRAHD to continue its tradition of providing vital services to children, youth, the elderly and families in need.

“Our community faces severe economic conditions along with increasing demands for services by out-of-work adults and families,” said, Maritza Rodriguez, Interim Executive Director. “This gala is an opportunity for everyone to help PRAHD build on its legacy and strategically position it in the 21st Century.” The theme for this year’s momentous event is “Recordando el Pasado – Walking Down Memory Lane.”

The gala serves as an opportunity to highlight those individuals, businesses and organizations who activity demonstrate their commitment to the betterment of the community. Perth Amboy Acting Chief of Police Benjamin Ruiz will be presented with the Special Recognition Award. Dr. Aritmides Restituyo will receive the Outstanding Professional Award; Santamaria Eye Center will be presented with the Outstanding Business Award and PRAHD’s Commendable Media Award will go to the Amboy Beacon in memory of Bill George.

Planning the Roberto Clemente Gala has never been a solo act. For 25 years, PRAHD has demonstrated a “best practice model of collaboration and partnership” to coordinate the festive occasion. This year’s planning builds on that model with a long list of outstanding assistance from community leaders, local organizations, businesses, including Senator Robert Menendez and Perth Amboy’s Mayor, Wilda Diaz both serving as honorary chairpersons; Tropical Cheese Industries, Inc., First Constitution Bank, Raritan Bay Medical Center, Investors Savings Bank, Provident Bank, Active Nursing Care, Inc., Ana Maria Zevallos-Skrocki Homes for Funeral, Amerigroup Community Care, Novak Funeral Home, Petra Best Realty, Access Title Corp., JJ Elek Realty, Inc., Dortch-Wright Enterprises and Rosengarten Companies.

PRAHD invites everyone to attend where the evening will include dinner, reunion with past board members, past employees, supporters, friends, raffle participation and dancing.
