CRANFORD – Transportation, Logistics and Distribution industries grew faster than any other business sector in New Jersey since the 2008 economic downturn. The Industry-Business Institute (IBI) at Union County College is offering a new Introduction to Logistics course to meet the demand for highly skilled workers and managers in these fields. Who should take this course? Prospective employees, existing managers and supervisors and other professionals.

Participants learn math specific to the industry (including the metric system), practice their map reading skills and test their knowledge of world geography. Communication skills, customer service, team building and logistics vocabulary are all part of this curriculum. Industry specific documentation, such as airway bills, export forms and commercial invoices are introduced as well as MFP and TMS software.
Course consists of 48 hours of instruction, scheduled for two three hour sessions per week for eight weeks and will be held at the Dr. Thomas H. Brown Center on Union County College’s Elizabeth campus, 40 W. Jersey Street, Elizabeth. Interested students may register for an afternoon session or an evening session.

Session 3: Afternoon session: 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Session 4: Evening session: 6:30-9:30 p.m.
