New Brunswick Man Fatally Shot In His Home

NEW BRUNSWICK – A city man was fatally shot during an apparent attempted robbery at his home, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced.

Alvin Williams, 29, was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 1:06 a.m., after he was shot in his Welton Street home shortly before 12:35 a.m.


Detective Mark Pappas of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the shooting.

Investigators believe the incident was not a random act.

The results of an autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available.
