Community FoodBank Seeks Support For Hurricane Relief Efforts

HILLSIDE — The Community FoodBank of New Jersey has prepared 25,000 meals for evacuation sites for victims of Hurricane Irene. The agency is still producing 2,000 meals per day for the region, including Paterson and Bound Brook, and is distributing cleanup supplies and bottled water.

The FoodBank is asking the public to support the relief efforts at or by bringing canned, non-perishable food items to one of three locations:


  • Community FoodBank Main Warehouse: 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside (Monday, Wednesday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 11, from noon-4 p.m.)
  • Community FoodBank Southern Branch: Shore Mall (former site of Value City—east entrance) Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Also at Kathleen’s Closet Second Chance Shop in the Shore Mall (Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
  • WDHA: 55 Horsehill Road, Cedar Knolls (Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
