Trudi’s Corner: After Irene

By Trudi Cunningham

Well, Irene has come and gone, leaving so much heartache and disaster behind. I was fortunate in the sense that although my area lost power for possibly eight hours and I had water in the basement, it was nothing drastic.

I am tired of certain officials, constantly, for 2½ days, repeating the same message, over and over, cutting in on regular programs. People would have to be idiots not to realize the importance and possible disasters in an instance such as this. Thankfully, people did pay attention.

My other thought would be in regards to those overloading on food, definitely in reference to frozen foods in the event of the loss of electricity.

Many thanks and much appreciation must go to those who are involved in such catastrophes.

One other thought goes to certain columnists, or I could say one in particular who constantly refers to “Bennies.” Talk about “sour grapes.” Give it a break, would you? I don’t know who appreciates his comments, and he gets paid for them.

I need to make a comment about the Postal Service, as I received a card about delivery of mail. I’m not concerned about that, just as long as I will be getting it and anything I may send gets picked up. I am not computer literate and don’t think I will ever go in that direction. There are no mailboxes available, so I would be totally at a loss.

As you might say, I’m from the “old school,” but there are many more of us out there.
