Airports Reopen

The three major airports serving the New York City metropolitan area have resumed flight operations.

Officials say flights in and out of LaGuardia Airport resumed at 7 a.m. Monday.

Newark Liberty International Airport, one of three major flight centers serving the metro region, has reopened following Hurricane Irene.

John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports opened to arriving flights at 6 a.m. Departures at the two airports are to resume at noon.

All three airports were shut down due to Tropical Storm Irene.
