ROSELAND – Residents and business owners affected by storms and flooding face major challenges in recovering from their losses. The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) has prepared a Disaster Recovery Guide in hopes of providing at least a measure of assistance for those in crisis.

The Disaster Recovery Guide is designed to assist disaster victims with many of the details involved in the recovery process, including documenting losses for tax and insurance purposes, and replacing personal identification papers. The guide includes Internal Revenue Service (IRS) forms and publications for use in filing casualty loss claims; instructions for replacing personal documents, such as birth certificates, drivers’ licenses and Social Security cards; and tips on documenting damage and losses for insurance claims.

The Disaster Recovery Guide is available online at www.MoneyMattersNJ.com/recovery, and a printed copy can be requested by calling 1-973-226-4494 x246, or emailing communications@njscpa.org.
