Bramnick Wants To Bring The 2016 GOP National Convention To NJ

WESTFIELD – Assembly Republican Conference Leader Jon Bramnick (R-Union) wants to bring the 2016 Republican National Convention to New Jersey.

“Late night television jokes about Newark and New Jersey will end after people visit the Prudential Center,” said Bramnick. “Hosting the convention will be an economic driver for the region.”

New Jersey last hosted a national convention in 1964, when Lyndon Johnson accepted the Democratic nomination in Atlantic City. A spokesman for the Prudential Center, Robert Sommer, said that officials from the Giants, Jets and the Prudential Center would meet to discuss the idea.

U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-Bergen) is also campaigning to bring his party’s 2016 National Convention to the Garden State.
