LINDEN — The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Linden Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a city resident that occurred late last night, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Kason Wilson, 24, was shot several times at 913 Union Avenue and was pronounced dead around 11 p.m. last night. No arrests have been made.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact Union County Crime Stoppers at 1-908-654-TIPS or www.uctip.org.  All calls are kept anonymous and tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of a suspect are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The victim was sentenced Feb. 20, 2009 to three years in prison for distributing drugs on school property during May, 2008, according to records from the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

Those same records show that in October, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail for simple assault on a law enforcement officer and to 133 days in jail for another incident related to distributing drugs on school property.
