Elizabeth Shooting Victim Dies; Homicide Task Force Takes Over Case

ELIZABETH — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting death of an Elizabeth resident, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Terry Washington, 28, died yesterday morning at 1:49 am at University Hospital as a result of gunshot wounds sustained on July 19, said Romankow. Washington was shot at 11:41 p.m. at 643 Franklin Street in Elizabeth. At the time of the shooting the Elizabeth Police Department handled the investigation and members of the task force is in the process of reviewing those reports.

No arrests have been made and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Union County Crime Stoppers at 1-908-654-TIPS or www.uctip.org. All information remains anonymous and tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of a suspect are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
