LINDEN – High winds from a thunderstorm last night damaged property in a ten-block area in Linden, according to police.
Between 6:10 and 6:50 p.m., police responded to 10 calls. Twelve trees were knocked down by strong wind, damaging two houses, two fences and six vehicles. Falling trees also downed some power lines, causing minor electrical outages.
The damage was limited to an area in the northeast section of the city bordered by Jackson Avenue, McCandless Street, Middlesex Street and Washington Avenue.
The Linden Department of Public Works and the Office of Emergency Management responded to the area to assist in clearing and removing the trees and making the area safe for travel.
