Bowling Industry Organization Tries For World Record

STATE – The Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America is trying to set a record with one million games bowled on Saturday, Aug. 6. Last year, there were 923,948 games bowled on the association’s World Record Day.

Four local bowling alleys are participating in the event:

  • Garwood Lanes, 346 North Avenue, Garwood 908-276-2040
  • Jersey Lanes, 30 Park Avenue, Linden 908-486-6300
  • Majestic Bowling, 525 US Highway 9 North, Hopelawn 732-826-6800
  • Woodbridge Bowling, 346 Main Street, Woodbridge 732-634-4520

Bowlers can go to to download and print a coupon good for one free game at any of 37 participating New Jersey sites on Aug. 6.

The New Jersey Restaurant Association announced its support of the bowling World Record Day. “As members of the NJRA, the Bowling Proprietors Associations are an important aspect of the hospitality industry,” said NJRA President Deborah Dowdell.

Bowling is the largest indoor participation sport in the U.S. with 65 million people bowling annually, according to the NJRA.
