SOUTH AMBOY — Police have identified an 18-year-old Perth Amboy man who apparently was struck and killed as he walked along the shoulder of Route 35 north in South Amboy, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and South Amboy Police Chief Darren LaVigne announced today.
Sylvestre Tejada was identified during a continuing investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the South Amboy Police Department.
An autopsy completed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Tejada died from blunt force trauma and that the death was accidental.
The investigation began after a state Department of Transportation maintenance crew discovered the body while spraying herbicide along the highway bridge over Raritan Avenue. They called police at 10:46 a.m. on July 28.
