Orange Man Charged In Linden Apt. Burglary

LINDEN – Police arrested a 40-year-old Orange man and charged him with burglary this week, authorities said.

On Tuesday afternoon, a 35-year-old woman reported an attempted burglary in progress at her apartment in a building on the 10 block of Hussa Street.


Officer Kenneth Poggi, who was a block away when the call was broadcast over the radio, spotted a man exiting the building. The suspect, later identified as Lawrence T. Jones, had a bulge in his shirt. When the officer stopped him, Jones was found possessed a screwdriver, a scraping tool and a substance believed to be heroin, police said.

Detectives were able to recover physical evidence at the crime scene which led to Jones being charged with burglary.

In addition, Jones has been also been charged with possession of burglary tools, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Union County Jail and bail was set at $45,000.
