Rahway To Celebrate “National Night Out” Aug. 4

RAHWAY — The Rahway Police Department will join forces with the residents of Rahway and thousands of communities nationwide for the “28th Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event next week.

National Night Out is designed to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. The event has proven to be an effective and enjoyable program that promotes police-community partnerships.

Rahway’s National Night Out event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the corner of Irving and Elizabeth Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. Most communities will hold National Night Out events on the traditional first Tuesday of the month, but the city is waiting to run it in conjunction with the Rahway Mayor’s Concert Series, monthly classic car show and the First Thursday Arts district events. Rahway’s National Night Out will showcase a display of emergency vehicles from the county, state, and federal government.
