Officials Investigate Elizabeth Shooting Death

ELIZABETH — An Elizabeth man who was shot last Wednesday died from his injuries earlier this morning, marking the 10th homicide in the city this year, according Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

On Wednesday, July 20, police responded to the are of Mary Street and Jefferson on a report of a person shot. Before police arrived, a friend transported the victim, Lawrence Pierre, 19, to Trinitas Hospital. He was later transferred to University Hospital in Newark. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on July 25, according to investigators.

The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating and asks anyone with information regarding the death of Lawrence Pierre to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-908-654-TIPS or www.uctip.org
