Linden Adds Friday Night Polka Concert

LINDEN – Musician Jimmy Sturr will lead his orchestra into Linden’s Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade for a special Friday night concert at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5.

Jimmy Sturr and His Orchestra have over 106 recordings, have won 15 Grammy™ Awards, and have received more consecutive Grammy™ nominations than anyone in the history of the awards.

The band attracts crowds of screaming, adoring fans wherever their travels take them and have been voted “The #1 Polka Band In The Country” for the past ten years.

Sturr’s success can be attributed to his ability to perform traditional songs while continuing to expand the polka repertoire by introducing songs from other genres. His new album, “Shake, Rattle and Polka!,” is a perfect example. Joined by such guests as Willie Nelson, Delbert McClinton, Duane Eddy, the Duprees, and Frankie Ford, Sturr takes timeless songs from the early days of rock’n’roll and injects them with all the energy and infectiousness of the polka. The result is a fresh, sound that holds appeal to polka fans and new audiences.

The Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, located across from City Hall in downtown Linden, will continue to host a variety of free concerts and movies during the months of August and September. Visit or check NJTODAY.NET’s community calendar for more information.
