LINDEN — The Linden Department of Public Property and Community Services sponsored the Fourth Annual George W. “Butchie” Scoles Fishing Derby held at the Pond in Wilson Park recently. Scoles was a maintenance worker for the Linden Department of Public Property who passed away in June of 2008. Those who knew him say he was a good family man, a hard worker and an avid fisher. The derby was named in his honor shortly after his passing.

This year’s Derby saw over 50 individuals fishing and awards were presented in two age categories for the Largest Fish Caught, the First Fish Caught, and the Most Fish Caught. Winners received new fishing polls and reels and are pictured above with members of the Scoles family.
