CARTERET–Mayor Dan Reiman and the Carteret Business Partnership, Inc., have announced that the Borough will be hosting its first Battle of the Bands on Aug. 20 at Carteret Waterfront Park. Dubbed “A Fistful of Sound,” the event will promote and showcase regional amateur musical performers through fun and friendly competition, and present a new entertainment venue to area residents and visitors.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. at what has become one of Middlesex County’s most popular waterfront parks. A range of prizes will be offered to first, second and third place winners, along with web-based promotions and media hosting at www.carteret.net .
The first borough-hosted Battle of the Bands will be a judged competition with no limitations regarding musical genre. Performers will be judged objectively according to their own style by a range of criterion, and may perform either originals or cover music. The event will be free to audience members, and there is no registration fee for performers. In the event of rain, the battle of the bands will be held at the Thomas J. Deverin Community Center and Library.
